What a Day!

We're here at Trace State Park outside of Tupelo, MS this evening. I drove the coach for the first time today and did pretty good. The hardest part is it looks like you're on top of the center line when you aren't. Really have to get used to that.

The trip was pretty good except for 3 "episodes."

1. Part of I-20 through Birmingham was missing! Just gone!! We were detoured right through downtown Birmingham, which was a real joy with a 40-foot coach and a tow! Gary only ran over one curb, so that was good.

2. GPS brought us here to this state park by what Gary called "a goat trail!" True it did end up being a narrow dirt road, and there was a direct paved road by another route! He wasn't too happy for a little while.

3. So then we get to the site and he goes to disconnect the car in order to back the coach in (it wasn't a pull-through site), he finds that the 2" hitch ball attaching the car to the coach is minus the washer and nut that holds it on! He immediately started thanking God - we could have lost the car at any time during the drive! God is good!!!

Two more states added.

Driving the coach for the first time.

With all of that said, Trace State Park isn't someplace we would come back to visit, but it's okay just to spend the night. The would-be lake at the back of our site looks like it was drained a very long time ago. The nice thing is that when we come inside, we are home. That really is nice.

Dry lake bed.

Camp site.

Tomorrow we go to the Tarkington farm in Almyra/Stuttgart, AR where we'll see all of our family on Gary's side, including the new baby girl, Causey. Can't wait to hold her!!!
