No, that isn't one of the Indian names given to some of the towns in Oklahoma! We just "saw a lot of" Oklahoma!!!

Feeding newborn calf

Before we left Stroud yesterday morning, Eddie Edwards (at whose home we were staying) found a newborn calf in the pasture and brought it back to the house. It hadn't stood up, so it hadn't been able to eat. It was very weak. He fixed a bottle for it and handed it to me to feed. It was just the sweetest experience! Thank you, Eddie, for letting me help!

We stopped for an hour or so in Cleveland, Oklahoma where my family moved when I was about 4 years old. I was able to drive directly to the places I remembered! The first picture is the first house we lived in when we moved there. It has been restored and looks nice now.

The second picture is the school where I went to 1st grade (which wasn't a great experience for me!) The third is the empty lot where the second house was. It was strangely emotional to see the places of my childhood after so many years.

Salt Fork Arkansas River - Great Salt Plains, Ok.

We spent last night at the Great Salt Plains State Park. It was a very nice campground with the river running along side. We would recommend it.

We then came to Beaver, in the Oklahoma panhandle. I lived here from about 1963 to 1966. I went to junior high school here. We drove by the houses I lived in, the school I went to, the church we attended, and the barn where I learned to jump horses. Also saw the fair ground where I rode in my one and only rodeo!!! We are staying at the Beaver Dunes State Park campground. Linda and I spent hours playing in these sand dunes when we were kids. It's been fun to see all of that again.

It's been storming here tonight. The wind was very high. There was hail in some places, but not here. Felt the coach move very slightly a couple times, but not bad. A little spooky! (Thanks Penni for the pic and the heads-up!)

Hail in the Oklahoma panhandle!

Tomorrow we will drive through part of Kansas and spend the night in Colorado.

Blessings to you all!

Keep us in your prayers.

Vicki
