Snow!!! HEAVY snow!!! We woke up to it this morning and busted butt to get out of there! A campground host drove by and told Gary that if we didn't get off the mountain by noon, we wouldn't get off for a few days. We rushed, and prayed, rushed, and prayed. This spot was much higher in the mountains than we had expected, and we had already decided to leave a day early. We were so thankful to see the Interstate!!
However, it was a really beautiful place (but no water or sewer hook-ups). There was no phone or internet service up there so I couldn't post anything until now. The last of the drive up was a winding dirt and gravel road. If there had been a place to turn around, I believe Gary would have! Here are some of the pics of the drive up to and of the campsite.
It was still snowing when we drove out of the Denver area, headed to Cheyenne, WY. It stopped for a while then started up again after we got here. It is very COLD, and WINDY! We are wearing sweatshirts, coats, and hats, and the dogs are wearing their sweaters.
We leave in the morning for Custer, SD which is even further north, but it's supposed to warm up some tomorrow. Gary and I have a running joke that the weather in Georgia is determined by calling Alabama! I'm wondering which state they call here! I just hope we will be able to enjoy our time at Custer State Park, and pray there are no dirt roads!!!
Signing off now - will post more from South Dakota.
Blessings!
Vicki
